Who tells the kitchen its allergens are blank?
Our guest pages have always been honest about a dish with no allergen answer. What nobody had built was the other half: telling the operator, on the screen where they actually work.
Three hundred and fourteen dishes across seven kitchens. Not one of them had an allergen answer. Not a partial answer, not an out-of-date one — nothing, on every dish, at every vendor.
The guest side was already right
This is the half that had been thought about. A dish nobody has filled in does not quietly render as a dish with no allergens. It carries a sentence: we do not hold allergen information for this dish yet — please ask before you order. Deliberately unreassuring. It says the information is missing, not that the food is fine.
That distinction is the whole thing. A missing allergen card reads to a guest as there is nothing to declare, and the difference between "we have not recorded this" and "this dish is clear" is a hospital visit.
The half that was missing
Nothing told the kitchen. The menu screen had been nagging about missing cost prices and missing photographs for months — both real, both worth saying — while staying completely silent about the one with legal teeth in this country.
Of those three, allergens is the only one where being wrong is not a wrong number. Cost prices being blank means your margin report is guesswork. A missing photograph means a duller menu. A missing allergen answer means somebody at the counter is the last line of defence and may not know they are.
What it says now, and what it will not do
The menu screen counts them and says so: how many dishes have no allergen information, the first few by name, and the two ways to answer — fill in the dish's allergen tab, or put the ingredients on its recipe and let it answer itself.
It has no dismiss button and no snooze. The cost-price warning has both, because an uncosted menu is a business problem an owner can reasonably put off until Tuesday. This one is not that, and a snooze button here would be software helping somebody look away.
