The bill, the tip, the split — to the penny.
Restaurant money is mostly edge cases. They are all first-class here, and the one thing we do not do yet is stated plainly.
Your terminal, your rate
Card payments run on the machine you already have and the till records them against the order. HelchPOS processing (1% falling towards 0.7%) is built towards and not switched on — until it is, nothing here touches your money.
Refunds that remember what was sold
A line refund knows the dish and puts the ingredients back or writes them off; an amount refund knows it knows nothing and says so. £5 back on a £6 bill cannot happen twice.
Service, tips and who gets them
Service charge as a configured percentage; tips recorded per order and flowing into the pay run split — arithmetic anyone on the rota can check.
A VAT receipt worth the name
Per-rate VAT broken out from lines that each know their rate — a mixed basket of zero-rated takeaway and standard eat-in comes out right, which is what makes it reclaimable.
